A true warrior ~~ man or woman ~~ gives his all
with the trinity of mind, body and soul in order to
help empower his people by the social practice
of daily action through personal performance in
the war zone. There are many ways to fight and
many different battlefields.
No mortal man who breathes can tell me what I
can be, do or say and assume I will obey. I follow
no designated Chief and all my heroes are dead
ones. No one can bestow warriorhood upon
another one with formal ceremony, neither Chief
Elder nor Medicine Man. It is earned on the
cutting edge of the battlefield waging war in all its
many colorful dimensions. A warrior wages war
with all the weapons at his command.
Let us not confuse formal ceremony with concrete
action. Do not mistake mere shadow for solid
substance. Doing a Sundance, Moondance or
Raindance Ceremony cannot ever create a warrior
~~ only fighting a real war with hard-core courage,
conviction and commitment creates a people's warrior.
Our Brother Leonard Peltier is a true warrior of
the people who sacrifices all and fights his war
day and night in the life of his Sundance. For all
the arrogant airs among our warriors we still
cannot free just one just man after over a quarter
of a century! Let us strive to be brave warriors
who make war!
